I love this new attitude I adopted five minutes ago. I've decided it doesn't matter if I have done anything worthwhile previously. I am excited to do cool stuff starting now. It is easier to launch into new adventures and consider the world my olive - I don't like oysters - if I look forward and not behind.
Kind of funny because my past is actually full of great accomplishments and wonderful memories.
The future is more exciting and inviting, though, if I look forward and forget about any kind of legacy I'm trying to leave behind, any mark I'm going to make on the world.
The crazy thing is, what happened to cause this change in my world view.

A New Beginning
I've always loved the color patterns of our spruce trees in early summer. The branches form radial layers alternating with dark bands of shadow. The tips of the branches burst with soft, lime green needles. The result is an alternating pattern of dark, bright yellow/green, light green, dark green and then dark again.
I painted this pattern this evening on a small canvas.
Purged a large stash of STUFF.
Adelie and I investigated the properties of color - additive, absorbtive, and subtractive.
Resolved to begin a new phase of my life, a phase not dominated by my employment. I will most likely follow an artistic muse: piano, visual art, carving in addition to expanded outdoor pursuits.
Despite difficulties with my vision and hearing, I am in really good health.
